Swiss Replica Rolex watches: Fake or Replica?

Fake watches is a slangy term referring to replica watches, usually fake Rolexes. The market on the internet is pretty large (ok, you might call it huge) and generally consists of companies operating out of China or other Asian countries and making most of their Fake Watches sales in North America and, to a certain degree, in Europe, where the market for Rolex replica is quite dense.

Perspectives on the fake Rolex market are varied. Is it wrong? Is it legal? While the answer to the first question may never be answered with any sort of authority (its too subjective) The second, perhaps surprisingly, receives a pretty murky response generally as well.

International laws are fluid and varied, what’s good for the geese in China might not do at all for the gander in America…well, you know what I mean. The fact is, there is no clear authority, and perhaps more relevantly, the business goes on regardless.

Replica watches fall under three basic categories.

• Swiss (high grade) replica
• Japanese (medium grade) replica
• Chinese (low grade) replica

Swiss, Japanese and Chinese refers to the place where the movement is manufactured. That’s the mechanism inside that makes the watch tick. Though dividing the fake Rolex designers along the lines of high to low grade does not make a sweeping remark about the quality of manufacture in those locations, what it does do is refer to the history of movement manufacture in the different regions.

Within those categories there is a great deal of diversity in the quality of materials used and craftsmanship involved. So, it’s important to look into more than just where the movement was made. Although, common practice is to sell fake watches with Swiss movement using the highest possible quality materials, and those with Chinese movement with the lowest and so on.

Quite often replicas with Japanese movement are more popular than the Swiss replica watches. This is generally due to affordability. Often, as well, the quality can be quite high and the average person can’t tell the difference between a Japanese made replica and the original. Since that’s the aim of most replica watches, and the price is right, watches with Japanese movement are quite popular.

Rolex replicas with Swiss movement, if they’re the real deal, will be virtually flawless. Often the real gold plating will be used, the movement will be 21 jewel Miyota just like the authentic and the functionality will be impeccable. Customers pay a decent amount of money for these watches and rightfully so. They are quite often finely crafted timepieces in themselves.

On the level of Chinese replica there is so much variation that it is hard to pin down. This is where the customer needs to be most careful though. When dealing with the low end it is easy to be duped if you’re not informed or attentive. The most important thing is to not be fooled into paying Swiss or Japanese level prices that won’t stay working long enough to reach your door. This is particularly relevant for wholesale purchasers. Buy one first, then decide. Take it to a jeweler and see if they can tell it’s a fake.

Do some snooping around about the company. Read this! Read a blog or two on the subject of fake Rolex. In most cases the issue is pretty transparent as long as you pay attention to what you’re doing. Fake watches can be perfectly wonderful purchases.
